1. It is a simple question. I use whatever is needed to be used. I started out with ICQ because people used it and it was not Microsoft. Then I began using MSN (together with ICQ) when the use of Microsoft did not seem so bad after all – and it just logged in whenever you entered Windows. I now use Trillian, the software that can message both ICQ and MSN users. I switch to MSN whenever I need to use the webcam or microphone but Trillian suits me fine for file transfers and text messaging.

2. Simple question, hard anwser. In my opinion, there is two level of thinking about this question, the first one is a user point of view. Messenger come with windows, simple to use. ICQ was one of the first on the internet so more people use it. So I use both. did no try Trillian yet, but will take a good look at it.

   second, the technicien point of view, I like to know and control what my computer do, no able to uninstall completly Messenger from my computer the traditionel way, I just chose not to use it. I don’t like to be “possess”. this is of course a personal opinion.
