Sweet freedom, from the dullness of doing the same thing over and over again; from the knowledge of uncertainty; from the paper piles and small texts; from the judgements; from the classroom; from distress; from unlife. Sweet freedom, for me.
WHat distinguishes a good photo from a great photo? Is it the colour, composition, lighting or subject? As one who owns a camera and does the occasional shoot, I have come to the conclusion that a great photo captures the ethreal, fleeting moment of a subject, be it a smile, a tear, a bird about to take flight, the ever-changing face of the weather and the shimmering light that never does the same thing again. Of course, the composition is important – if properly done, it frames the subject and communicates it to the viewer, the client, friends and family. The colour comes next but it is less important because it is usually less representative of the subject (if we’re talking about subject photography as opposed to abstract photography that empahsises colour). That is why you can find photos in colour, siepa and black & white. Colour is not to be neglected, however, because it is still what makes a photo what it is – the mood of the ubject can be conveyed through colour, the harshness of Winter and brightness of Spring is also expressed throught the use of colour.
It takes practice, courage and some imagination to do all this, and time; you need lots of time.
Now, we won’t have to wait for some dog to scratch its butt for minutes on end while we wait for unrelated files to be found. Ladies and gentlemen; Tiger is out.
You won’t need to use the file system anymore – imagine, just type what you need to find and open the thing. Speed. Its happening now. Here.
