    Milk is dangerous

Written by Cliff on Thursday 25 September 2008 at 1:40 pm

Due to the insertion of the dangerous chemical ‘Melamine→’ into dairy milk in China, some children have grown kidney stones and some children have died. over 53,000 children have been affected. These days, dairy products tainted by poor quality control in China should be avoided at all costs. This includes: ice cream, milk, cheese, yogurt, baby milk powder, (possibly) soybean milk, dim sum containing milk (e.g. 奶油飽), candy, cake, biscuits, chocolate and snacks.

VF suggests alternatives sourced from Australia, New Zealand, Europe and America such as soybean milk, ice cream, cheese, yogurt and chocolate. You’re going to avoid snacks anyway, right? And dairy milk is mainly for cow babies, not people.

    Using Subversion with Coda

Written by Cliff on Sunday 21 September 2008 at 12:46 am

Subversion is insanely complex (un-mac-like) for the part-time developer on a mac who uses Coda thinking it can help him because it is so simple to use. So I’ve written this PDF file to help us hapless developers set up a repository on our development servers and use it with Coda.

    The New Facebook

Written by Cliff on Wednesday 17 September 2008 at 11:43 pm

On Facebook these days, more and more folks are joining the movement against the so-called “New” Facebook, a revamped theme that the Facebook developers have decided to try out on users. But the reason is most probably that most users are against change. They don’t wanna see their old stuff replaced by unfamiliar new things. They don’t wanna see Lehman go down. They don’t wanna see AIG get bough up by the Feds and they don’t wanna see Barclays Capital bite the dust.

    Brno, a rest

Brno – a blank in my memory. Only two hours south of beautiful Prague by train, Brno is light years away from its capital. Its a workers; town, a cost haven for many automobile companies wishing to take advantage of its relatively cheaper workforce. Its a vibrant city with only 2.5% unemployment and a limited cultural heritage. Indeed, one can say that there is little to do in a city of 400,000 inhabitants. I took a peek in its shopping mall, watched a movie and bought blueberries in its open-air market.

    That was all.

It was here that we recharged our batteries. We checked our email like there was no tomorrow and played computer games with fervour. We had too much Pilsner, too much meat and too much sleep. Brno is definitely a good pit stop if you are in the middle of Europe looking for rest.

    Praha, a walk

8.42pm – we are entering the Czech Republic. Soft, timber-clad hills and rolling plains of golden wheat rush past. Puffy opal clouds gather around the setting sun as we shake to Prague on the Eurorail… ……
